© Reuters Avalanche proposes that the Otherside metaverse build its own subnet
The core team presented a proposed idea to the ApeCoin DAO. The company suggested that the Otherside metaverse should migrate to the Avalanche blockchain.
The proposal is still in the initial phase of discussion. Therefore, it is not clear whether the proposal will pass a formal government vote. It is unclear whether the DAO will take control of the metaverse.
ApeCoin DAO is the governing body of ApeCoin. This is a token that should be used as a native token for the Otherside metaverse from Yuga Labs and in the NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club collection.
Although Avalanche made the proposal, Yuga Labs has not yet commented on the issue. But experts say the company should not accept the plan. That’s why Yuga has already announced that it will launch a Layer 2 solution (like Ronin) for its products.
Last month, Yuga Labs complained about Ethereum network congestion and high GAS tariffs during the sale of its Altroside metaferse NFTs.
In addition, the company has expressed interest in having its own blockchain. The goal is to be able to answer scalability questions, as Axie Infinty did with Ronin.
On the other Metaverse
However, Avalanche’s proposal is for Yuga Labs ’own blockchain to be built as a subnet in Avalanche.
“We propose that ApeCoin DAO launch Otherside on an Avalanche subnetwork to support the future growth of the Otherside community through a faster transaction process, higher throughput, greater scalability and a lower gas rate,” Avalanche said. in your proposal.
According to Emin Gün Sirer, CEO of Ava Labs (the main development company behind Avalanche) we are interested in the proposal. So, the team may try to convince ApeCoin DAO to change its mind.
He posted a link to the proposal on Twitter. He said “ApeCoin would be fantastic as an Avalanche subnetwork”. According to him, ApeCoin “would benefit from the superior performance of its dedicated chain in the fastest consensus protocol.”
In the discussion of the governance forum of the proposal, community members and owners of Bored Ape expressed a number of opinions against the idea.
Many members argue, for example, that ApeCoin DAO should stay on the Ethereum blockchain and focus on achieving scalability with the available Layer 2 solutions, rather than moving them to a separate network.
“Honestly, I think we’re going to lose more on the side [Ethereum] that we will gain. However, for all the value that ApeCoin has and the ecosystem, I don’t see remotely an appropriate value that Avalanche can return to make the sacrifice count, ”the comment said.
Meanwhile, another commenter pointed out that ApeCoin DAO may not even have control of the Other’s metaverse.
“First, DAO has nothing to do with Otherside. This is a Yuga project and it is not within the scope of this DAO to decide which technology to use or not to use for this.”
