“Especially in winter, we recommend people to look for other sources of nutrients, such as certain foods, as well as supplements,” he points out.

Vitamin D in food

Fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel, herring and cod liver oil, as well as mushrooms, yeast and mushrooms are the main sources of vitamin D.

Although healthy and important in the daily diet, fruits and vegetables are not foods rich in vitamin D. “There are several options for vitamin D supplements on the market today that offer the ideal amount just in case. There are supplements with concentrations ranging from 200 to 2000 and (international unit) per capsule or per serving, ”says Priscilla.

The nutritionist points out that it is ideal to consume a concentration of up to 2000 and a day. “This indication applies to most people and age groups, with the exception of those who may have specific needs and whom the doctor should point out,” he explains.
